XUG Phone Chat on Video Integration Available for Download
On April 9th XUG held an international Phone Chat on the topic of integrating video and other motion files in what traditionally have been print-centric environments. The audio from the chat is available for download by XUG members and Xinet and AXI employees effective now.
Included in the discussion was the use and functionality of the Video Support add-on for the Xinet WebNative Suite of software.
Our principal panelists were from N-GEN Studios, a front-end production division of Omnicom subsidiary agency TracyLocke. The panel members from N-GEN were XUG Board Member Sam Moore, Jordan Schibler, and Tom Kehn. Our guest moderator (and welcome provocateur!) was the indefatigable Ramesh Patel, from the UK-based Fresh Media Group, playing the XUG version of "London Calling."
Also stepping up to take an active role in the discussion was Felix Hoffmann, from Meyle + Mueller in Pforzheim, Germany. As you'll hear in the audio, Felix was hiding in the storeroom during the call, probably so that his colleagues wouldn't know he was speaking with a lowly crew of Yanks and Brits! (That's not really the reason Felix stayed in the closet. Listen to the audio all the way through to hear what motivated him to go into hiding. There's a very subtle hint at the top of the podcast.)
The N-GEN panelists briefly discussed their use of Xinet's Video Support features. Most of the discussion, however, covered the broader issue of how they and other companies are beginning to integrate video and other motion files into their digital asset libraries and adjusting their thinking from print-centric production to true multimedia asset integration.
The .mp3 file is available here for XUG members as well as employees of Xinet, its AXIs, and our sponsors. You must use your XUG login to access the download page. If you've forgotten your login data, you can use the password reset function in the login box.
We'll be announcing the date and topic of our next XUG Phone Chat shortly. Please watch for details.
