Does FullPress clean up files linked to HIGH in InDesign?

Promoted from User Forums

When printing from InDesign, I have heard that FullPress will process linked art in a layout so only the visible portion is sent to the printer which should make printing faster. Is this only the case when the user links to FPO via PictureWrangler, or does FullPress also cut out unwanted image info from art linked to HIGH?

I'm asking because I've noticed that many of our layouts use images that PictureWrangler needs to link to HIGH in order to print correctly—do these images get any benefit from FullPress?

You are correct that Full Press does indeed only include the "visible" portion of linked images in both FPO and hires workflows. But in the case of a layout that Picture Wrangler needs to link to high, (probably because of some transparency intersection,) there is no Full Press benefit. This is because the file is flattened prior to Full Press getting it's hands on it. However you can get around this using the PDF image replacement workflow. Chapter 10 of the Full Press Admin guide goes into detail on how to set this up.
