CS3 VersionCue Integrations and Xinet

I recently saw a demo of Cumulus CS, which was aired at Apple Expo France (video; I didn't go there).

What was most striking about this is the forward thinking shown by Canto to embrace what is essentially the best possible outcome for a designer or an image editor.

The core feature that really stands out on top is the integration with Bridge, which I would have to say has been begging for additional toolsets/features, some much needed stability etc.

Also, being able to directly access the file structure of the Cumulus catalog from the open/save dialogues in all of the Adobe graphics apps is golden.

So my point is when will Xinet dispense with the web clients and get right into the core of the products. At the very least, an AIR application that gives the same drag and drop functionality, but I would see that as avoiding the issue, especially with the metadata capabilities of bridge.

The earlier arguments for not getting snugger with Adobe products was the fear of alienating Quarkphiles. Sorry, but I haven't met many Quark users who don't use Illustrator or Photoshop, therefore modern Quarkphiles would surely have bridge. This being the case, end the going offline process, and the horrible single image drag and drop from a browser and get us bridge bound!

We've built a module that will allow you to view, edit and save metadata across single or multiple assets directly from within Bridge. And this can be done with custom Venture metadata fields, not just the stock XMP fields. So you get all the speed and previews of Bridge, with full access to your custom Venture data. That same information can be used or edited in WebNative or Portal. The idea is that by making everybody use XMP as the middle-language, you can use Xinet, or Adobe, or whatever to manage your metadata. Rich from IOI

I was wondering if there is any information about using a third party app, like Adobe Bridge CS3, to search for Venture generated metadata contained by files on a Fullpress volume? In my workflow, hires images need to be cleaned and i was thinking that if the cleaners were able to search the Fullpress volumes for the images that contain specific metadata, created using Venture, it would help a lot. Instead of having to navigate through finder windows and folders. I have the Custom metadata panel file saved into my "Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels" folder and I can edit the custom fields that have been created in Venture but, I can't use those fields in the search feature found in Bridge CS3. Thanks for any info you might have on this.
