Xinet & Prinergy?

Promoted from the User Forums
We've recently bought into Kodak's Prinergy software with its companion Matchprint Virtual soft proofing, and we're about to do the install and set up some initial workflows. Our VAR, NAPC, is a DaLim reseller, so they haven't had a lot of wisdom to pass on regarding Prinergy which we want to initially set up to handle basic advertising duties -- preflight PDFs, flatten them to PDFX-1a, ftp them out to a pub, etc.

Because our IT dept. has never allowed Appletalk on our Xinet box (don't ask -- it's been a nightmare) we're only now getting started with OPI using the new 15.0.3 hot folders which support the image swapout.

I was wondering if anyone was using the Xinet / Prinergy combo in a pre-press environment. I'd love to have an off-line conversation with you regarding how you integrated the two.

Thanks.

We are in the process of automating Xinet DAM and Prinergy's Rip.

I have configured it so our prepress operators can write a thin pdf from InDesign or Quark (the following steps are automated), upload it to the DAM, convert to fat pdf, push it to a Smart Hot Folder, Create the new Job, Rip & Trap the files and output proofs (with no human intervention).

OS is your Xinet DAM using?

We use a Xinet/Prinergy workflow at our shop. The two in combination have great potential. We output similar to Rich. Desktop-->Xinet HF--->Prinergy Smart Hot Folder-->Rip Trap, output, etc.

If you purchased Rules Based Automation with your Prinergy system then you have huge flexibility once files are processed.
