Just to add to Antoni's comments, you can also do something similar if you have Twist, depending on your workflows this can also be relatively seamless.

You can call a ghostscript procedure in Twist to extract the text information, Twist can then put it back into venture once it has filed the PDF. If you use Twist to create your PDF's then this can offer a seamless integration.

As Xinet integrator, we had similar situation. Same sale circles where closed with no sale because no search into PDF's text. We made a work around. Any new or uploaded file into a specified folder or volume, creates an action that calls a routine that extracts the text from the PDF and leaves into a temporary text file. In same action we introduce the content of this text file into a Venture custom field of the PDF and delete the text file.

The solution is not perfect but is a step. We made for a single platform, but should not be a problem to make available for others. Personally I would like to have the word used for the search highlighted on the PDF, but this is an other history that may take long time.
