Naming Conventions

Is anybody taking advantage of the metadata fields within WebNative? How are you handling keeping the client's specific file name while working internally and keeping track of your own revisions?Eric Hegdahl

Metadata, i'm using metadata in a number of ways: 1. IPTC metadata for a Library type service - images only 2. Manual metadata for royalty / misc type info - images only3. MIS system metadata import for all project level information. - all assets Basically, our metadta is all for finding assets and associations on a big file system.

Thanks for the followup Jenna.  I think I have a unique and very specific application for meta data in this way. It's basically keeping the clients name untouched throughout the revision process, retouching etc., but being able to identify that the file has gone up a revision. I'm looking at the Xinet plugings for Photoshop and Illustrator and would love one for InDesign. They need to be updated for CS3 and then I can test.Eric HegdahlPresident, XUGMarketing Technology Officer, Graphic Systems Group

Hi Eric, I did some research and I didn't talk to any customers that were using meta data in this way. What I did find out is that many of our customers are using meta data in 3 different ways: 1. Production: Using meta data to organize where files will reside on the system, etc. 2. Tagging assets to provide image ordering and downloading services to customers and partner companies. 3. Meta data is created to be used in Accelerator Web-to-Print templates. If I talk to anyone doing this, I'll encourage then to respond.  Jenna  Jenna Mac KillopMarketing, Sales & PR InPress Systems AB
