Where is your Metadata coming from?

I work in a production agency setting so I think I have a look at a good cross section of workflows. Recently I was asked to setup a WebNative account that could display metadata info, metadata that was already in the file.

Who out there is adding Metadata at the Photoshop level? Who is adding Metadata at the WebNative level? Who out there is capturing Metadata from another source?

Finally, who has setup and trained their clients to use the Metadata features in WebNative and is it successful in meeting the clients' expectations?

The only time I've seen metadata be successfully implemented on the client side is when the metadata is a prerequisite for posting. Clients are asked to fill in certain fields before the file will be accepted or published. Data is appended as the asset is used and downloaded. Just curious about the tools others are using to implement metadata? Would like to hear from some of the solution providers to learn about their tools and success stories. -Michael Iulo

We have a proprietary DAM right now (several actually) and are migrating to Xinet. Right now we receive metadata feeds from the client that initiate photo orders and page creation. We are looking for a way to do this with Xinet but we are not sure if Xinet is the right tool for the job. How far can we (or should w) push the system? Is it best as a pure DAM or can it be pushed to the extent of being a workflow tool as well?

I'm working on the same thing here. Our clients are just starting to understand how useful Xinet can be. We have built custom sites outside of Xinet but looking ahead I'd like to see us migrate these custom sites into a product offering from my company. That would mean making it a workflow tool.
